Radon ElementRadon is the second leading cause of lung cancer behind smoking and it is especially dangerous due to the fact that it is colorless, odorless, and tasteless. Another factor that makes radon especially troublesome is the fact that it occurs naturally in American soil. Radon is directly responsible for over 20,000 lung cancer deaths a year and it is estimated by the EPA that one out of 15 American homes has harmful amounts of radon inside.

National Radon Action Month

The goal of National Radon Action Month is to increase awareness about the potentially life threatening risks of radon exposure. The Environmental Protection Agency, the Center for Disease Control, the American Medical Association, and the American Lung Association have all stated that exposure to radon is a preventable health risk. Every January, it is suggested that homeowners get their houses professionally tested for radon.
