Defunct Insulation Company Finally Reaches Settlement Over a Decade Later

Porter Hayden was a company started in 1966 that specialized in insulation products and some of those products contained asbestos in the early years. In late March 2002, Porter Hayden filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy due to the fact that they had nearly 60,000 personal injury claims that resulted from the use of asbestos in insulation installations in Maryland. After multiple years of litigation with National Union Fire Insurance Co and American Home Insurance Co, a 15 million dollar settlement has been reached.
